This Sunday’s full moon will be in Scorpio, with the Sun in Scorpio’s polarity, Taurus. This energy will carry us through the week and into May. April’s full moon is also known as the Pink Moon, named for the pink-blooming wild ground phlox, one of the first flowers to blossom in early spring, signaling that change is coming. Oh, and Jupiter is nearing the midpoint of a four-month retrograde period.
There’s a lot going on during this full moon, is what I’m saying. The push and pull we feel in our every day lives feels particularly acute during a full moon.
But with the arrival of The Sun we can focus on the brightness and joy the world offers us during this period of forceful change. The Sun reminds us to concentrate our energy on that which we wish to manifest, and warm ourselves from the heat of our own inner light.
As the moon is fully illuminated during this phase, so too is your way forward. Scorpio’s energy is powerful, and emotional, tending to make our desires loud, pulsing, and dominant in our minds and hearts. The Sun card tells us the next steps in the journey are of our own choosing. We each have a clear purpose in our existence, and if we focus on the things that bring light into our lives, that purpose can be fulfilled.
This is not to say the journey will be an easy one; we are feeling everything so intensely during this time and that can make us easily frustrated and quick-tempered. But remember, the Sun and the Moon are aligning in this reading, in your favor. A full moon occurs when the Moon is opposite the Sun, with Earth (i.e. you) smack dab in the middle. You can let yourself be smacked back and forth between them like a ping-pong ball, or you can make the conscious effort to align with the vibrations, and be supported in your endeavors by both sources of light and energy.
Use the Full Moon in Scorpio to dive deep into your heart’s desires, and the Sun to call those glorious, luscious things into being.
From Courtney Alexander, creator of Dust II Onyx: A Melanated Tarot:
“Receiving the Sun in a reading is a great sign of strength and enthusiasm well deserved. Bask in the glow-up that is taking place. Know that whatever you are ready to step into and manifest is ready for you as well.”
Bask in the glow. Let it emanate from inside you and bolster your strength. Allow yourself to see that the outcomes of your current endeavors are to be excited about, not fearful of.
Don’t know what your purpose is, or what needs to be manifested? Now is the time to ask. Call that knowledge forth from the ether, from the ancestors, from Goddess/God. The Sun tells us to Ask, and Receive.
This Full Moon season united with the Sun card is about polarities. Will you pulled towards things that serve no useful purpose in your life, or will you push through and empower yourself to live boldly for what you want? Will you spiral down into the muck, or will you spin up to the heavens?
The crystals to support you during this Sun-drenched-Scorpio-Full-Moon are Golden Calcite, and Black Onyx.
Golden Calcite is a stone of the solar plexus chakra, expanding your self confidence and courage when it comes to beginning a new path or project. Golden Calcite connects to solar energies, and can help one heal past traumas and abuse. This crystal also opens you to the sweeter aspects of life, and draws forth a happy disposition and confidence in your abilities.
Black Onyx is a powerful protection stone. It guards against negative energy and attitudes, while providing support in times of stress and grief. This stone helps to heal emotional wounds and past life issues, as well as providing grounding and support during meditation, spellwork, and intuitive dreaming.
If it is shadows of your past that are keeping you from claiming your future, both of these crystals used in conjunction can help you release yourself and start living in the present so that you can move forward into a brighter future.
Blessed Full Moon, everyone!
